Tsvetana Pironkova has progressed to the quarterfinals of the Moorilla Hobart International tonight, defeating Olga Govortsova in straight sets, 6-1 6-2.
Pironkova, who knocked out the No.2 seed Patty Schnyder in the first round, was too strong for Govortsova dominating her across the court.
“I wouldn’t say it was an easy match, any match is hard. I play against a top 50 player so it was tough,” Pironkova said.
“I return (serve) very good today, I think she didn’t serve that well and I only lost one service game, I am really pleased so far.”
“I played in a tournament before this, I wanted to be fit for this week and I guess it has worked.”
In the night’s doubles action, Alona Bondarenko and Kateryna Bondarenko had a straight sets victory over Anne Keothavong and Mara Santangelo, 6-4 7-6(3).
