Hobart tennis fans will get their first chance to see returning tennis star Alicia Molik on Monday 11 January when she headlines the first night session of the 2010 Moorilla Hobart International.
Due to the interest already been shown in the former world No.8, tournament organisers have taken the unprecedented step of announcing the schedule for Molik’s first match before the official draw has taken place.
“Scheduling a match of a top player before the draw is not unheard of on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, however, it is a first for the Moorilla Hobart International,” Tournament Director Michael Roberts said.
“We know Alicia has to play her first round match some time in the first two days and by locking in her match early we can give tennis fans every opportunity to see her in action.
“Alicia is looking forward to making her return to the Moorilla Hobart International and now the public can purchase tickets to Monday night’s session confident that she is scheduled to play.”
Molik’s opponent won’t be known until the official draw is done on Saturday 9 January.
Fellow Australians Jelena Dokic (NSW) and Olivia Rogowska (Vic) will also be in action with their opponents and schedule to be announced next Saturday.
