The first round of qualifying for Moorilla Hobart International 2013 took place today in hot conditions and saw all seeds advance to the next round.
Three Australians have also moved forward including world No.173 Sacha Jones (Vic) who defeated Stephanie Bengson (NSW), Tammi Patterson (Vic) secured a win over Janette Husarova of Slovakia and 18-year-old Viktorija Rajicic (Vic) turned it up to defeat world No.140 Stephanie Dubois of Canada.
The official draw was conducted this evening. Top first round match ups will see the No.1 seed Su-Wei Hsieh (TPE) face Shuai Peng of China and No.2 seed Sorana Cirstea (ROM) will meet defending champion Mona Barthel (GER).
London 2012 Olympic silver medallist Laura Robson (GBR) is up against No.8 seed Sloane Stephens (USA) while 2010 French Open champion [6] Francesca Schiavone (ITA) will play Kirsten Flipkens (BEL).
16-year-old Ashleigh Barty (Qld) has drawn No.7 seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (RUS), 2011 champion Jarmila Gajdosova (Vic) will play Romina Oprandi (SUI) and West Australia’s Bojana Bobusic will meet a qualifier.
