Australia’s Sacha Jones took some time out today with The Great Moscow Circus ahead of the Moorilla Hobart International qualifying event which begins tomorrow.
She enjoyed an exclusive backstage experience of the Big Top.
“I haven’t been to the circus since I was a little girl so it’s quiet cool coming here and seeing all the behind the scenes stuff that goes on,” she said.
After a successful year in 2012 with two ITF titles under her belt, Jones catapulted up the rankings reaching a career high of 150. She will contest Hobart qualifying with the hope of progressing deeper into the tournament. In 2012, she reached the second round before losing to Shahar Peer 6-2, 6-3.
“I approached the year well. I won a couple of challengers and played some bigger events,” she said.
“It will be really nice to get my feet out there and get back on the court.”
Jones, originally from New Zealand, switched allegiances at the beginning of 2012 to play for Australia.
“I’m really grateful for all that’s been offered to me by Tennis Australia. It’s been great and I’m enjoying it a lot” Jones said.
The Moorilla Hobart International will be her first tournament back after a suffering a brief wrist injury in September.
“I’m looking forward to starting this year fresh. I have really nice memories of Hobart. It reminds me a lot of where I was born and bred. It’s really beautiful here. I like it a lot. It’s green with a beautiful ocean. It’s nice.”
The qualifying rounds of the Moorilla Hobart International commence tomorrow at 10:00 am. Tickets are available at the gate and through Ticketek.
